About FDPSAAN

The focus area of FDPSAAN includes “Fire Prevention, Control and Management: - This initiative is conceived to promote activities /programmes that will help to reduce and mitigate the risk of fire disasters in our local and urban settlements.

The scope of our activities covers:--

Research/study on fire prevention, control and management.

massive fire awareness programme/ advocacy.

training/capacity building in the area of fire prevention.

information sharing and networking on fire related fields.

innovative fire practice to promote fire safety

initiate programmes to promote fire disaster risk reduction in-line with UNISDR campaign.

The research conducted by our NGO shows significant low level of awareness on fire safety in Nigeria, less than 2% of the 140 million inhabitants of the country’s population have the required basic fire safety knowledge which contributes to the present high rate of fire incidence experience in our rural and urban settlements in Nigeria. FDPSAAN was conceived to bridge this wide gap of low level of fire safety consciousness in our society to complement the role of our country’s Fire Service.

	To promote massive fire safety awareness in our communities.
	To protect our environment from indiscriminate bush burning, gas flaring and other fire related activities that can causes degradation of our environment, climate change bio-diversity, air pollution and green house emission.
	Engage in "human rights activities" by protecting the rights of fire victims who sustain injury from unwholesome fire related activities cause by individual, corporate bodies or government due to non-adherence to fire safety rules.
	Engage in activities that will help in fire disaster reduction and by extension help to reduce poverty in-line with Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) objective.
	Develop a sustainable programme that will protect “Women/Children” from domestic fire hazards since they are more vulnerable to domestic fires such as kitchen or household fires.
	Train our Youths/Children to imbibe the culture of fire safety through our catch them young fire safety club initiative.
	Recruit/train Volunteers to help in fire awareness campaign at the community level to assist in rescue operations in time of fire emergencies.
	Create opportunity that will help to draw “Global Attention” to peculiar problems facing developing or poor nations in the area of fire disaster prevention, management and control.
